My husband and I have been trying to watch what we eat lately and have both been losing a little weight. Here's some great ideas for 7 snack ideas that are both healthy and filling. He's doing really well because he is able to work out along with his diet plan. With my chronic severe pain, I am unable to do so.
According to the USDA, there are seven “gap” nutrients that we tend to be lacking in our diets. But snacks can save the day—we can use them to make up for the shortfalls in our meals. The missing nutrients, and simple ways to get them are:
1. Calcium: Yogurt, low-fat string cheese, a handful of almonds
2. Potassium: Cantaloupe, citrus fruits, bananas
3. Magnesium: Whole-grain granola bar, pumpkin seeds
4. Fiber: Whole-grain crackers/chips, fresh fruits and veggies
5. Vitamin A: Orange-colored fresh vegetables, such as carrots and mango
6. Vitamin C: Strawberries, citrus fruits, kiwi
7. Vitamin E: Nuts, avocado (especially almonds)
Just by keeping to whole grains and away from sugary foods, you can easily lose some pounds. Also stay away from sugary sodas and make the switch to diet, if you must drink soda. Even diet soda is not the best for you as it is not good for your bones. It decalcifies your bones so if you are already dealing with osteopenia or osteoporosis, try to stay away from sodas of any kind.

A General Welcome to All Of You!
I'd like to ask you to come and follow me on my new blog - Lisa's World of Looniness. It's named that because of my love of the bird, the Loon, found in the Northern parts of the United States. It is the MN state bird, in fact. We see them frequently on our trips up to our family Island in Ontario, Canad...a and I just love the look and sound of them. They are so beautiful and their call is so elusive sounding and to me, very relaxing.
I will admit that I am new to blogging and have been following many other bloggers for quite some time. I hope to keep it interesting for you and bring some cool information to you each time I post. At this time, I will probably not be posting every day so I won't be flooding your mailbox, so don't worry!!!! I would really like to get some people to follow me though :)
I will be bringing information about staying frugal in this economy, saving money in general, freebies and coupons that are available, family issues, dealing with chronic pain and pain management, several different diseases including RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and Fibromyalgia as well as many others, positive affirmations and quotes, sales marketing, and anything else I find of interest :)
If you have any ideas or questions, please let me know. Thanks so much and I hope you will follow me!
Welcome to Lisa's World of Looniness!
Today has been a tough day. I have had a really bad sinus headache. I did find a really cool challenge though that I am going to try to partake in. It is on The Organizing Junkie blog. It is called the 28 Day Organizing Challenge. If you have a blog, you can join us in the challenge and try to win some awesome prizes by organizing a room in the next 28 days. Just take a before and after picture of your hard work and post it on your blog. Even if you don't have a blog, you can still participate along side those who do - I think you just won't be able to win the prizes. There is awesome stuff on The Organizing Junkie Blog. If you want to learn some great organization skills, go to her blog and follow her. She has wonderful ideas. I will be telling you about alot of the interesting bloggers that I have found in my internet travels....
